The Divinity of Music

My favorite creation myth has always been the one from the Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien: First there was nothing. Then, came a melody, and the whole world was created with the harmonies that followed.

For MDUUC’s Music Sunday service in the spring of 2021, I wrote the following prayer which captures many of my beliefs about music.
